{"id":11318,"date":"2021-01-20T09:57:42","date_gmt":"2021-01-20T09:57:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kitazato-ivf.com\/?p=11318"},"modified":"2022-02-28T16:45:34","modified_gmt":"2022-02-28T16:45:34","slug":"embryos-oocytes-cryotop-not-influence-cooling-rates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kitazato-ivf.com\/es\/embryos-oocytes-cryotop-not-influence-cooling-rates\/","title":{"rendered":"Number of embryos or oocytes per Cryotop\u00ae does not influence cooling rates during vitrification"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-11320 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/kitazato-ivf.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/poster_cardiff-1024x114.jpg\" alt=\"Poster Cardiff University Cooling Rate Cryotop\" width=\"1024\" height=\"114\"><\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2>During Fertility 2021, an interesting poster was presented by researchers from Cardiff University and London Women\u2019s Clinic.<\/h2>\n<p>The number of oocytes or embryos to be loaded onto the Cryotop\u00ae and the spatial arrangement on the strip is often a matter or concern and debate among embryologists as these two issues may influence the cooling rate during vitrification.<\/p>\n<p>Researchers from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cardiff.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cardiff University<\/a>\/<a href=\"https:\/\/www.londonwomensclinic.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LWC<\/a> have investigated these topics in a study presented at Fertility 2021. The authors have created a computer model that builds the <a href=\"https:\/\/kitazato-ivf.com\/vitrification\/cryotop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cryotop\u00ae<\/a> as it would be seen during vitrification with specimens loaded on its strip. They have set in the computer simulation, multiple embryos mounted in various locations and modelled the temperature in the system changing over time after being submerged in liquid nitrogen.<\/p>\n<p>Their results have shown that the number of oocytes or embryos and the different spacial arrangements have minimal effect on cooling rates, as long as the droplet size and safe timeframes during vitrification remain within manufacturer\u2019s guidelines. The number of oocytes or embryos mounted in one cryo-device is usually determined by the embryologists in accordance with the patient and IVF treatment characteristics.
